How to Remove Stains on White Vinyl?

Tim Heider asked:

I have a Seadoo gunkhole with a white vinyl interior. When the boat was in storage for about a month, a life jacket was left on the seat and a calorie-free brown stain remained from where the jacket was in contact. I've tried several of the usual products including those with bleach. No luck. Whatsoever suggestions?

Answer:

For your convenience, I've highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

UPDATE:

Indelible stains on vinyl of boats are virtually impossible to remove. Yous can try ane of the following bellow to remove stains on vinyl but NEVER utilise bleach on vinyl.

  • Mix a 50/fifty solution of Boat Clean Plus and Boat Scrub . Try rubbing it on a small expanse of the stain with a textile or pocket-sized scrub brush. If this lightens the stain, effort exposing the stained section to the sun, as much as possible for several weeks. UV has been known to bleach almost everything. The dominicus harm should be minimal and it will help remove the stain.
  • Another solution that boat owners have had success with is Hydrogen Peroxide. You should be able to get some at the drug store or hair supply store (used for bleaching hair). Get the strongest concentration you can. Scrub the area with information technology, but practise not rinse it off immediately. Expose the seat to the sun for a couple of weeks to lighten the stain.

Whatsoever other cleaner, similar bleach, acetone, toluene, or corrosive boat cleaners, etc. may or may not go the stain out, but they will remove the plasticizers and damage the vinyl. If the above methods do not work, y'all will take to replace the vinyl.

If you are successful in getting the stains out, I would suggest that you immediately coat your vinyl with Vinyl Guard (in one case a flavour application) to preclude farther occurrences of staining.

To make clean your vinyl utilize non corrosive, water activated cleaners, like Boat Clean Plus only when you have to. Vinyl Guard protected surfaces can usually exist cleaned with water.

Suntan oil tin can too degrade vinyl and Vinyl Guard will protect against that equally well.

I suspect that your stain may be indelible and you will accept to replace that department of vinyl or live with the stain, but before y'all do, here are a few things y'all tin can try. You have piddling to loose.

The solution used by most professionals for tough spots on vinyl is a 50/50 solution of Boat Clean Plus and Boat Scrub . Endeavour rubbing a small spot with this solution on a fabric or a minor scrub brush. If this lightens the stain, try exposing the stained section to the sunday, every bit much as possible for several weeks. UV has been known to bleach almost everything. Another solution that boat owners take had success with is Hydrogen Peroxide. You should exist able to become some at the drug store or hair supply shop (used for bleaching hair). Get the strongest concentration you can. Scrub the area with it, but practice non rinse it off immediately. Betrayal the seat to the sunday for a couple of weeks to lighten the stain.

Whatever other cleaner, like bleach, acetone, toluene, or corrosive boat cleaners, etc. may or may non become the stain out, but they will remove the plasticizers and damage the vinyl. If the to a higher place methods practice not piece of work, you will have to supercede the vinyl.

If you lot are successful at getting the stains out, I would advise that you lot immediately coat your vinyl with Vinyl Baby-sit (in one case a season application) to prevent further occurrences of staining. To clean your vinyl apply non corrosive, h2o activated cleaners, like Boat Clean Plus simply when yous have to. Vinyl Baby-sit protected surfaces tin can normally be cleaned with water.
