Instructions

STEP ane: Remove and discard former batteries.

In my feel, it'south fairly easy to make clean the corrosion off the toy or other electronics, but yous tin't really "make clean" it off the batteries.

Step two: Wipe out any loose chunks.

Sometimes you won't need to practise this, but if there are any loose chunks of corrosion, I try to wipe those out with a damp newspaper towel (or accident them out with a can of compressed air).

Stride three: Make a paste of baking soda and water.

You lot'll only need a teaspoon or then of baking soda and but a few drops of water.

I employ a cotton fiber swab and a small basin to mix it into a paste.

STEP four: Rub the paste onto the corroded areas.

Using the cotton fiber swab, merely rub a small amount of the baking soda paste on and effectually the corroded area until the corrosion starts to rub off. Utilise new cotton swabs equally necessary.

Footstep 5: Wipe out excess with a newspaper towel.

In one case you lot have the corroded surface area mostly cleaned out, utilize a clammy (well-nigh dry) newspaper towel to wipe the surface area. Then let it air dry out before putting new batteries in.

Footstep 6: Test information technology with new batteries.

Put new batteries in the unit and test to see if it works!

Notes

There have been a couple of times when this cleaning method has not worked for me, but for the nigh function, one time I put new batteries in, the particular works just like new again!

I tin't fifty-fifty begin to add together up how much money I've saved buying used toys, electronics, games, and other bombardment-powered items over the years.

Even more and then now that I don't have to skip over items with corroded battery issues!

I know my quick cleaning tips won't piece of work for every case of battery corrosion, but considering the process only requires a few minutes and a tiny bit of baking soda, it doesn't hurt to try!

BONUS TIP: If you plan to give a souvenir that requires batteries… include a pack of extra batteries! I know information technology will be appreciated 🙂
